ASHES TO ASHES,
DUST to DUST,
in a sure and certain HOPE
of the Resurrection unto Eternal LIFE,
THROUGH OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST.
Ash Wednesday, normally considered a high-church day, is a brief but somber worship service. It begins the LENTEN season.
We prepare our hearts for BURIAL . . . for the burial of SELF.
In this season, Christians remember the Passion of CHRIST, the cost of our Salvation.
We remember His+ Cross and we embrace our own.
In this season, we Followers of CHRIST prepare our own hearts to die to Self and to follow HIM+ more closely.
It is a time of serious repentance and a time to remove the worldly “leaven” which has crept into our lives over the year.
It is a time to make our COMMITMENT TO CHRIST go deeper and grow stronger.
This is THE season to HUMBLE ourselves with Truth and fasting. To turn an honest eye upon the ways we have lifted up Self . . . and not CHRIST . . . in the inner man.
It is a time pick up our cross and die daily to our Self.

[ JESUS ] Saying, The SON+ of Man must suffer many things, and be rejected of the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be slain, and be raised the third day.
And HE+ said to them all,
If any man will come after ME+,
let him deny himself,
and take up his cross daily, and follow ME+.
For whosoever will save his life shall lose it:
but whosoever will lose his life for My+ sake,
the same shall save it.
For what is a man advantaged, if he gain the whole world, and lose himself, or be cast away?
For whosoever shall be ashamed of ME+ and of My+ Words,
of him shall the SON+ of Man be ashamed,
when HE+ shall come in His+ own Glory,
and in His+ FATHER’S,
and of the Holy angels.
