#6 LENTEN MEDITATION ~ 2023 ~ for the Preparation of the GREAT PASSOVER ~~~ Oh, That CHASTENING from The FATHER !

 

HEBREWS 12: 5 - 10

And ye have forgotten the exhortation which speaketh unto you as unto children, My son, despise not thou the chastening of the LORD, nor faint when thou art rebuked of HIM: ^12:5

 

For whom the LORD loveth HE chasteneth,  and scourgeth every son

whom HE receiveth. ^12:6

If ye endure chastening, GOD dealeth with you as with sons; for what son is he whom the father chasteneth not? ^12:7

But if ye be without chastisement,

whereof all are partakers,

then are ye [ illegitimate off-spring* ] _bastards,

and not sons. ^12:8

^{*NOTE: ILLegitimate children receive no recognition as sons and receive no inheritance either.}

Furthermore we have had fathers of our flesh which corrected us, and we gave them reverence: shall we not much rather be in subjection unto the FATHER of SPIRITS, and live?  ^12:9 

For they verily for a few days chastened us after their own pleasure; but HE for our profit, that we might be partakers of HIS Holiness. ^12:10

These are the hardest verses in the New Testament to love !

Anyone who has tried seriously to walk without sin knows HOW HARD it is to control their natural, strong-willed Self. We understand the necessity of chastening our flesh, but we do not like it.

Especially when our chastening comes from The FATHER, there is NO escaping it. It simply does not quit until we are QUITE thoroughly chastened! HE intends to change us so that we do NOT return unto our Adamic , head-strong nature.

O, how we wish there were another way to be partakers of HIS Holiness !

Yet, there is another verse in Hebrews which is even MORE serious.

Though HE+ were a SON+,

yet learned HE+ obedience

by the things which HE+ suffered;

^{Hebrews 5:8}

Who can read THAT verse without tears in his eyes ?

Who can understand why Our LORD JESUS had “to learn” obedience through His+ Sufferings ?

Was it to provide a Divine EXAMPLE+ for us ?

Dear Heavenly FATHER,

We give THEE thanks and praise for Thy Beloved SON+ JESUS CHRIST, Who+ learned obedience through the things that HE+ suffered. Glory to THEE, O Heavenly FATHER.

O, impart Thy Divine Mercy unto us ! Help us to do right and heed Thy slightest admonishments with a gladsome heart, no matter the task.

Help us to stop murmuring and whining when a tough situation is placed before us, so that the duration may be shortened, according to Thy great Mercy. Help us speedily.

O Merciful FATHER, help us to embrace swiftly our Divine lessons whole-heartedly and quickly yield to Thy Divine Right to Correct us… without us having to go through an extended chastening, even though well-deserved.

We thank THEE for Thy SON+ JESUS going before us , even in the matter of chastening to learn obedience. We don’t understand it, but we thank THEE, O Holy FATHER, for setting HIM+ as our EXAMPLE+ .

Glory be to THEE, LORD GOD, glory be to THEE.  

In The Name of Thy Beloved SON+ JESUS, we lift these prayers unto THEE, Heavenly FATHER.
