LENTEN SEASON 2025 ~ And, HE+ Was Acquainted With Grief, ~ Isaiah 53:3c

 

HE+ is despised and rejected of men;

a MAN+ of Sorrows,

and acquainted with grief:

and we hid as it were our faces from HIM+;

HE+ was despised,

and we esteemed HIM+ not.

The LORD JESUS was acquainted with grief. Well  acquainted. HE+ knew about suffering.

Grief, here in the Hebrew, means MALADY, ANXIETY, CALAMITY.

HE+ knew about the tower of Siloam which collapsed, killing 18 Hebrew laborers. Luke 13:4  

HE+ knew of the Galilaeans whose blood Pilate had mingled with their sacrifices. Luke 13:1

Sickness, physical limitations, blindness, inability to talk, lameness, unstaunched flows of blood AS WELL AS TEARS … in all these, HE+ was well aware of the grief flowing out of our human hearts.

AND SIN. Our LORD was well-aware of the sin that locked our hearts in bondage to the satan and his evil demons.

HE+ was All-Knowing about our pursuit of LIES --- tricks of the devil --- which enveloped us in strongholds of the enemy, thinking those LIES would fill up our GOD-hungry heart.

 [ Things like: silver, gold, a big home, a big job, a spouse, or even children … trying to be happy without JESUS as LORD of our lives. ]    

The LORD JESUS was AND IS well-acquainted with the griefs we bear, with the griefs we have had put upon us by others, with the griefs we have gained as a consequence of our own foul choices.

HE+ KNOWS THEM ALL.

And, HE+ CARES !

Scripture states in Lamentations 3:

But though HE cause grief,

yet will HE have compassion

to the multitude of HIS mercies. 

^{Lamentations 3:32}

For HE doth not afflict willingly

nor grieve the children of men. 

^{Lamentations 3:33}

Oddly enough, “willingly” in this verse is NOT an adverb, but a phrase that states in the Hebrew: from HIS Heart .

That literal Hebrew tells us in this verse: The LORD OUR GOD does not afflict nor grieve the children of men from HIS Heart !

It was not AND IS NOT The LORD’S  intention to grieve us , mankind, sinners though we are.

It was AND IS The LORD’S intention that we should DWELL in His+ LOVE.

That is His+ intention in dying for our sins.

Simply put,

it is the SIN that makes grief in our hearts… and HE+ KNEW THAT !   

The original sin of Adam which put everything on planet earth under the curse causes our sicknesses and death . 

And, later, our own sin-filled choices result in our going the satan’s way instead of The LORD’S way in order to be happy.

YES, INDEED !

LORD JESUS CHRIST knows all about grief.

HE+ came to make us free from it. 

HE+ carried it for us on the Cross.

Glory be to The FATHER

 WHO sent HIS Only-Begotten SON+,

And to The SON+

Whose+ Blood brought us to The FATHER,

And their HOLY SPIRIT,

Who was sent from The FATHER by The SON+

After HE+ was Glorified.

In the last day, that great day of the feast, 

JESUS stood and cried, saying,

If any man thirst, let him come unto ME+, and drink. 

He that believeth on ME+, as The Scripture hath said, 

out of his belly shall flow Rivers of Living Water. 

 But this spake HE+ of The SPIRIT,

which they that believe on HIM+ should receive:

for the HOLY SPIRIT was not yet given;

because that JESUS was not yet glorified.
