HE+ CAME to WARN Us NOT, NOT, NOT to go into HELL ~ ADVENT # 18

What Did HE+ Come Here TO DO ?

The LORD JESUS CHRIST came here to WARN US !

HE+ came here to warn us NOT to go into HELL . 

. . . where their worm dieth not and the GEHENNA fire is not quenched. 

GEHENNA “hell” is from the Hebrew, Valley of Hinnom, historically the location of child sacrifices, called the Valley of Tophet, as in Jeremiah chapters 7 and 19, and Isaiah 30:33. 

For the children of Judah have done evil in My sight, saith the

LORD: they have set their abominations in the House which is

called by My name, to pollute it.

And they have built the high places of Tophet, which is in the valley of the son of Hinnom, 

to burn their sons and their daughters in the fire; 

which I commanded them not, 

neither came it into My heart. 

Jeremiah 7:30-31

The name  “Gehenna” comes from the Old Testament Hebrew,  Gay- Hinnom – Valley of Hinnom. 

It was a . . . “ravine south of Jerusalem where fires were KEPT BURNING to consume the dead bodies of animals, criminals, and refuse; figuratively in the Gospels and James for hell, a fiery place of eternal punishment for the ungodly dead.”

CHRIST JESUS warns us repeatedly

NOT to go there.

The warning was SO STRONGLY given that Our LORD told us it would be far better for us to lose an eye, hand, or foot IF IT CAUSED US TO SIN, rather than to go into that Gehenna hell. 

See Matthew 5: 22,29,30 ; Matthew 18: 9;  and Mark 9: 43-48 --- and do not let anyone tell you that  those verses in Mark  “were not in the original Greek.” The Nestle-Aland removal of those verses is based on a few manuscripts. See documentation at the end of the article. 

GEHENNA hell is equivalent to the full-time, Eternal  LAKE OF FIRE,  originally created for the devil and his angels. 

Then shall HE+ say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from ME+, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels: 

Matthew 25:41

This Gehenna hell, the LAKE OF FIRE,  is an ever-lasting torment for BODY, SOUL, and SPIRIT.

Rev_19:20  And the beast was taken, and with him the false prophet that wrought miracles before him, with which he deceived them that had received the mark of the beast, and them that worshipped his image. These both were cast alive into a LAKE OF FIRE BURNING WITH BRIMSTONE.

Rev_20:10  And the devil that deceived them was cast into THE LAKE OF FIRE AND BRIMSTONE, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever.

Rev_20:14  And death and hell were cast INTO THE LAKE OF FIRE. This is the second death.

Rev_20:15  And whosoever was not found written in the Book of Life was cast into THE LAKE OF FIRE.

In the Greek, the TEMPORARY holding place of the dead is called HADES [ hay-dees]  αδης   .

 Revelation 20:14, above, should read: 

“And death and Hades were cast 

into the LAKE OF FIRE.

This is the second death.”

Unfortunately, the King James Version of the Bible uses ONE TERM , “hell”, for both Greek words [ Gehenna and Hades ]  but they are two different places. Hades is located in the center of the earth. 

For as Jonas was three days and three nights in the whale's belly; so shall the SON+ of Man be three days and three nights

in the heart of the earth. 

Matthew 12:40

He seeing this before spake of the resurrection of CHRIST, that His+ soul was not left in hell [ Hades] , neither His+ flesh did see corruption.

Acts 2:31

Hades is now a holding place for the unrighteous dead. 

Keep in mind that at the Resurrection, The LORD moved the “captivity” of the RIGHTEOUS DEAD out of Hades --- that part of Hades known as Abraham’s Bosom. 

It was across the gulf from the unrighteous dead where the rich man was in torments, in Luke 16:22, etc. 

During the Resurrection days, The LORD moved that part called “Abraham’s Bosom” into the Paradise of GOD, which is now in the Third Heaven.

2 Corinthians 12:2-4

I knew a man in CHRIST above fourteen years ago, (whether in the body, I cannot tell; or whether out of the body, I cannot tell: GOD knoweth;) such an one caught up to the third Heaven.

And I knew such a man, (whether in the body, or out of the body, I cannot tell: GOD knoweth;)

⁴ How that he was caught up into Paradise, and heard unspeakable words, which it is not lawful for a man to utter.

This is what The LORD JESUS CHRIST came here to do: to take us to Heaven when we die. 

We no longer descend into the heart of the earth

. . . if we are anchored in CHRIST,

trusting in HIM+,

 living for HIM+.

Let us Pray: 

LORD JESUS, thank YOU+ for making the Way for us to come to YOU+ in Heaven when we die. We thank YOU+ for being willing to die for us, that we might be in Paradise with YOU+.

O LORD, how we long for that day! 

Help us to die daily to Self and live for YOU+, that we might live with YOU+ for all Eternity, which was the DIVINE PURPOSE for Your+ Coming, O CHRIST.

Glory to YOU, O Righteous FATHER.

Glory to YOU+, O Holy SON+.

Glory to YOU, O Blessed HOLY SPIRIT.

And they shall go forth, and look upon the carcasses of the men that have transgressed against ME: for their worm shall not die, neither shall their fire be quenched; and they shall be an abhorring unto all flesh.

#2 – “Only 4% of Greek manuscripts omit into the unquenchable fire at the end of verses 43 and 45, and also omit verses 44 and 46 entire, to be followed by NIV, NASB, LB, [ TEV ] , etc. . . .”

Concisely, from Burton Throckmorton Jr., Gospel Parallels, Fifth Edition, Thomas Nelson, Nashville, 1992 : Verses 44 and 46, which are identical with vs 48 , are omitted by a mere handful of manuscripts. See page 108, footnote.

The omissions are led by the Sinaiticus ( ALEPH- 01) and Vaticanus (B - 03) ( faulty and error-laden—i.e., thousands of errors, ) and a few others which follow their lead. 

DEAN John William Burgon actually lists the errors in the GOSPELS alone in : VATICANUS = 7,578 and the SINAITICUS = 8,972 .  

 These errors include omissions, additions, substitutions, transpositions, and modifications. See pages 11-12 in his Revision Revised, 1882.

The vast majority of our manuscripts DO INCLUDE verses 44 and 46. The ancient manuscripts Alexandrinus (A -02 ) and  Bezae ( D-05 ) include these verses in Mark, along with all the Latin and Syriac Peshitta manuscripts.
