Now is My+ Soul troubled
and what shall I+ say?
‘FATHER, save ME+ from this hour ?’
but for this cause came I+ unto this hour.

NOW is My+ Soul troubled . . .
Not perplexed, but rather agitated. Disturbed. Turbulent. Roiled = to make turbid by stirring up the sediment.
HE+ Who+ calmed the storm . . . HE+ Who+ had the winds and the waves obey HIM+ . . . HE+ Who+ dealt thoroughly with that demonic ‘legion’ which destroyed thousands of swine . . . was facing the KNOWN WILL of His+ FATHER.
an agonizing death by CRUCIFIXION.
The LORD JESUS knew early in His+ time on earth that CRUCIFIXION for HIM+ was His+ FATHER’S WILL.
In His+ interaction with Nicodemus, The LORD JESUS told him ( John 3:14 ) ~
And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the SON+ of Man be lifted up:
And, in John 8:28 ~
Then said JESUS unto them, When ye have lifted up the SON+ of Man, then shall ye know that I+ am he, and that I+ do nothing of myself; but as My+ FATHER hath taught ME+, I+ speak these things.
Also, in John 12:32-33, these poignant words ~
And I+, if I+ be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto ME+. 33 This HE+ said, signifying what death HE+ should die.
His+ FATHER’S WILL for even the kind of death HE+ should suffer was NO secret to HIM+.
Do we REALIZE what HE+ realized ?
HE+ realized that EVERY PROPHECY concerning that agonizing crucifixion was going to be fulfilled by HIM+ at His+ death . . . and, The LORD JESUS HIMSELF+ knew every Prophecy well. Here are a few:
· PASSOVER LAMB+ slain – Exodus 12
· CURSED on a TREE – Deuteronomy 21:23
· PIERCED hands and feet – Psalm 22 , Zechariah 12
· REPROACHED and ABANDONED BY MEN – Psalm 69
· GREAT THIRST – Psalm 69
· BEATEN, HAIR PLUCKED OFF, SHAME AND SPITTING – Isaiah 50:6
· ALL of Isaiah 53
To give a realistic picture, C.M Ward, Evangelist and radio preacher in the 1900’s, detailed a death by Crucifixion. Here it is, somewhat abbreviated:
- · The wounds in His+ hands sent FIRE down through His+ arms. Fainting occurred, then revival , awakening the crucified to pain, pain that was CUMULATIVE , never easing.
- · The Cross was planted so that the greatest amount of sunlight would pierce the eyes.
- · THIRST became the greatest need. Any movement of the eyelids RIPPED OFF cells of the delicate eyes because of the lack of the necessary lubricating mucus.
- · As the mucus membranes dried up the areas of the throat, sinuses, mouth, inner regions of the rectum, etc., the lubrication became like fine gravel, tearing the tissues.
· The tongue thickened for lack of moisture.
- · One by one, muscles went into cramping knots . . . with no way to pull out of them. They moved across the shoulders and down into the abdomen.
- · After two hours on the Cross, EVERY muscle was locked in solid knots. Men shrieked themselves into insanity.
- · The pain -- and symptoms -- were identical with tetanus ( lockjaw).
“JESUS CHRIST died the most horrible death ever devised. It was designed to allow the slow erosion of cell, muscle, emotion, bone, tissue, mind , spirit, blood and heartbeat . . .

NOW is My+ Soul troubled . . .
SO NOW we may comprehend some of the PHYSICAL AGONY awaiting HIM+
- · beyond the scourging which shredded His+ back,
- · beyond the nails driven into HIS+ hands and feet,
- · beyond the crown of ( LARGE ) thorns piercing His+ brow . . .
