NEVERTHELESS, not My+ Will, but THINE ~ #3 PASCHAL FAST ~ #3 Lenten Meditation ~ Luke 22:42

Father, if thou be willing, remove this cup from me ...

The FATHER was NOT willing.

HE did NOT remove the Cup of suffering, even from HIS Beloved SON+.

In obedience, The LORD JESUS submitted His+ natural, human Will to His+ FATHER’S Divine Will.

# 3 ~ Lenten Meditation

Luke 22:42

22:39 And HE+ came out and went, as HE+ was wont, to the Mount of Olives; and His+ disciples also followed HIM+. 40And when HE+ was at the place, HE+ said unto them, Pray that ye enter not into temptation. 41 And HE+ was withdrawn from them about a stone’s cast, and kneeled down, and prayed, 42 Saying,

FATHER,

if THOU be willing,

remove this Cup from ME+:

nevertheless not My+ Will,

 but Thine, be done.

The FATHER was NOT willing.

HE did NOT remove the Cup of suffering, even from HIS Beloved SON+.

In obedience, The LORD JESUS submitted His+ natural, human Will to His+ FATHER’S Divine Will.

As it is written:

Hebrews 5:8

Though HE+ were a SON+, yet learned HE+ obedience by the things which HE+ suffered;

+  +  +

How do we learn OBEDIENCE ?

1 Thessalonians 5:18

In every thing give thanks: for this is the WILL OF GOD in CHRIST JESUS concerning you.

+  +  +

The LORD JESUS is of tender mercy concerning His+ Followers.

Nevertheless, HE+ knows the path of Victory for each one of us . . . and it is never easy. We learn to over-come our trials in the very midst of them. The Early Christians learned obedience through the things they suffered.

Many, many martyrs through the ages have learned obedience in the same way that CHRIST JESUS learned it.

Only now, WE HAVE A DIVINE HELPER+ going through it with us.

We, too , learn obedience during our trials . . . for they are our “testing.”  The LORD tests us to see if we will hold onto His+ Truth, His+ Word, when things become unbearable.

HE+ knows what we will do; we don’t.  We THINK we will stand, but the trials of life permitted by The LORD  test our words to HIM+.

Will we lovingly obey HIM+ even though we do not receive our healing, our problems lifted, or a stress-free life  ?

Will we adhere to His+ Way of Holiness in the face of ridicule, loneliness, or persecution ?

Do we hold to TRUTH or do we compromise at the least frown of rejection ?

We are being TESTED every moment, with EVERY PASSING THOUGHT: With whom do we agree ?

Have we passed the TEST ?

We will find out

after we close our eyes in death.
