#14 ~ Fighting Supernatural Evil ~ ADVENT 2020

 

ZACHARIAS and ELISABETH

Three persons received the HOLY SPIRIT just before The LORD came: 

• The babe, John, while still in Elisabeth’s womb, Luke 1:15, 
• his Mother, Elisabeth when Mary greeted her, Luke 1:41, 
• and Zacharias, when baby John was circumcised and named, Luke 1:67. 

They NEEDED the HOLY SPIRIT, for times were evil.   

 

We fight supernatural evil with supernatural Holiness coming from The LORD of Hosts. In our natural man, we cannot stand against evil spirits or demon-strengthened men.

 

Remember : the seven sons of Sceva in Acts 19 were all wounded by just one demonized man.

Acts 19:16

And the man in whom the evil spirit was leaped on them, and overcame them, and prevailed against them, so that they fled out of that house naked and wounded.

The people of Israel were looking for their MESSIAH because their natural strength could not loose them from their enemies, the Romans ( at that point in history) .

Their prophecies of old rejoiced in the SUPERNATURAL deliverance The LORD would perform for them. The Roman oppressors were harsh task-masters to live under.  

LUKE 1: 67 - 71

And his [ John the Baptist’s ] father Zacharias was filled with the HOLY SPIRIT, and prophesied, saying, Blessed be the LORD GOD of Israel; for HE hath visited and redeemed HIS people, And hath raised up an HORN+ of SALVATION  for us in the house of HIS servant David;

As HE spake by the mouth of HIS holy prophets, which have been since the world began:

That we should be saved from our enemies,

and from the hand of all that hate us;

YES, their prophecies of old rejoiced in the SUPERNATURAL deliverance The LORD would perform for them, as HE did at the Red Sea.  In short, they NEEDED The LORD.

However,

The ELHOHIM saw

that they had a GREATER NEED.

 

Even more, HIS people needed deliverance from the bondage of sin.

They were slaves to sin, yet they argued with The LORD, saying they were never in bondage to anyone !

John 8:33-34

They answered HIM+, We be Abraham’s seed, and were never in bondage to any man: how sayest  THOU+, Ye shall be made free?

 

JESUS answered them, Verily, verily, I+ say unto you , Whosoever committeth sin is the servant of sin.

Zacharias said, under the anointing of the HOLY SPIRIT:

That we should be saved from our enemies,

and from the hand of all that hate us;

But the people who sat in great darkness needed to see their MESSIAH’S+  Great Light of life. 

They could not “see” their true enemy who hated them in the Garden of Eden.  They could not see the plots and schemes of satan to eradicate the Jews and destroy the whole human race. 

 

We STILL cannot see the true enemy behind all the oppression and wickedness of the human race. 

 

We can NOT fight supernatural evil with our natural strength, with our natural mind, with organizations of men,  with political, social, or armed rebellion.   

 

We can only be “strong and do exploits” ( Daniel 11:32 ) against supernatural evil by His+ supernatural, Holy strength, under the power of the HOLY SPIRIT.

The ELOHIM knew the human race was not yet ready. It was not yet ready for WHAT HE+ is going to do at His+ Second Coming.

SO . . . first things first: The cleansing of the human race HAD to come first. SELF was infected with sin in the Garden and consequently, we have thoroughly inherited that SELF-nature.

Before the enemy from without could be vanquished, the enemy infecting us from WITHIN had to be conquered.

Abraham REJOICED to see His+ Day ( John 8:56 ). He saw it , and WAS GLAD !  . . . for more reasons than one.

 

LET US PRAY:

Heavenly FATHER,  I too rejoice to see His+ Day Coming. 

I thank YOU for sending Your Holy SON+ JESUS CHRIST to accomplish first things first, to provide a way to cleanse me from my sins, for they were many and grievous. 

Thank YOU for sending Your Blessed HOLY SPIRIT to dwell in me and lead me along Your pathway. 

O Holy FATHER, I need more of YOU and less of me. Send forth Your Mighty SPIRIT to over-whelm me like YOU did to John, Elisabeth, and Zacharias  . . . that I may perfectly praise YOU and worthily magnify Your Holy Name, through CHRIST our LORD.
