THEY MISSED IT ! --- Isaiah 60: 1-3 --- ADVENT 2022

 

 Isaiah 60:1-3

Arise, shine; for thy LIGHT+ is come,

and the Glory of The LORD is risen upon thee.

^60:2  

For, behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, and gross darkness the people:

but the LORD shall arise upon thee,

and His+ Glory shall be seen upon thee.

^60:3  And the Gentiles shall come to thy LIGHT+, and kings to the brightness of thy rising.

The long-yearned-for Coming of MESSIAH+ JESUS finally arrived. For thousands of years, this MESSIAH+ had been prophesied.

For thousands of years HE+ had been written about in the Jewish writings.

For thousands of years His+ Coming gave the Jewish  people  HOPE.

And they missed it.

They MISSED their MESSIAH’S Coming !

They did NOT RECOGNIZE HIM+ when HE+ came. 

 

The seed of Jacob has paid dearly over the centuries with their very lives for missing that Day of Visitation with their MESSIAH+ .

How could this have happened ? 

Indeed, for centuries – if not millenniums --- they had the Torah, the Law of Moses.  They had the Prophets’ writings. They had the Psalms and the books of Wisdom in the Holy Writ. GOD’S Ancient People had Targums and many, many writings from their Teachers and Rabbis. 

The Jewish Scribal scholars were diligent to protect those ancient writings, not changing anything even if they thought it might have been inscribed incorrectly.

The Jewish people met in tabernacles, Temples, and synagogues every Sabbath, and would not even carry their beds from outside to inside on the Sabbath. 

They observed the Mosaic Law and the hundreds of others the Rabbis laid upon their shoulders . . . something like 633 laws , rules, and regulations in their religious code of conduct.

So, HOW did they MISS the Coming of their MESSIAH+ ?

How was it that they DID NOT RECOGNIZE HIM+ ?

They obeyed the Mosaic Law outwardly . . . but their hearts were FAR from GOD.

They meticulously kept the Sabbaths and obeyed the jots and tittles of the Law, but they did it as well-trained creatures.  They cared nothing about being CLOSE to the LORD and having companionship with The LORD through their day.

They mechanically endured the exercise training while they eyed the “bone” they could gnaw just as soon as the training was over.

And thus, they MISSED their MESSIAH+.

They didn’t see HIM+ because they were NOT LOOKING for HIM+ .  Their eyes were on getting the bone.

So, Church, what has changed ? Is there any difference between us and the Jews who missed their MESSIAH+’S Coming ?

Are we content to go through the church motions religiously but care nothing TO MAKE THE EFFORT to draw closer to HIM+ daily ?

Are our eyes on getting the bone instead of on JESUS our MESSIAH+ Who+ saves us from our sins ?

O LORD, I beseech THEE+, 

open my eyes that I may see THEE+ !
