Old Testament Lesson: Deuteronomy 4:23, 24

the covenant of the LORD thy GOD,

Epistle Lesson: Ephesians 2:1- 3

The GOSPEL LESSON: Luke 6: 33-36

The Words of Our LORD JESUS CHRIST

And if ye do good to them which do good to you, 
what thank have ye? 

for sinners also do even the same.

And if ye lend to them of whom ye hope to receive, 
what thank have ye? 

for sinners also lend to sinners, to receive as much again.

But love ye your enemies, 

and do good, 

and lend, 

hoping for nothing again;

and your reward shall be great, 

and ye shall be the children of the Highest: 

for HE is kind unto the unthankful 

and to the evil. 

Be ye therefore merciful, 

as your FATHER also is merciful.

Meditation ~

 We see Our LORD being so merciful to us sinners, that HE+ loved us and died for us while we were yet dead in our sins!   

And through HIS+ death, we gained life. 

Furthermore, that was and is the ONLY WAY sinners could ever gain both life here and now and life Eternal.  

Our FATHER'S wrath waxes heavily against those who set themselves against HIM morally or spiritually.  

HE is a consuming fire to those who align themselves with 

• the course of this world, 
• the prince of the power of the air, or
• the spirit of disobedience. 

Our LORD'S words clearly show us how to be on GOD'S side.  The LORD JESUS clearly spoke to us about how to be a friend to GOD His FATHER.  

HE has not changed His Mind about what HE considers RIGHT... and what is WRONG .... for mankind to do .

Both the Old Testament and the New Testament contain words of truth which should bring conviction to us if we disobey the Written Word. 

It is no secret what GOD can do ! What HE'S done to others, HE will do to you ! 

Let Us Pray ~ ~ ~ 

O LORD of the Consuming Fire, we come before THEE now to ask of THEE mercy. 

We have done those things we ought NOT to have done. 

We have neglected doing those things which we know please THEE. 

Even worse, we have avoided Thy Face. 

We have avoided coming before THEE for correction. We have chosen to hide our hearts from conviction... because we do not want to change. 

Forgive us these sins. Help us to turn away from the course of this world.  Help us not to follow the lurings of the prince of the power of the air. Help us to forsake our own disobediences, once and for all times. 

Grant this we pray, through the merits of Thy Only-Begotten SON+, our LORD JESUS CHRIST, our ONLY MEDIATOR+ and ADVOCATE+, both now and forever. Amen.

HE+ Who+ is coming after me is stronger than I , Whose+ sandals I am not worthy to pick up.

HE+ will Baptize you with the HOLY SPIRIT and with FIRE, Whose+ winowing fan is in His+ Hand. HE+ will throughly cleanse His+ floor, and will gather His+ wheat into the garner, but will burn the chaff with unquenchable fire.

     Our LORD will refine His+ children.

THAT IS A PROMISE

It is similar to pruning. Both are painful, but are done for the health of the one receiving it, for his benefit.

IT ALSO BENEFITS

the Kingdom of GOD.

.

For everyone shall be salted with fire, and every sacrifice shall be salted with salt.

The fire shall test every man's work.

.

(Yes, another couple of promises

Let us present our bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable unto GOD, which is our reasonable (Divine) service.

Let us take heed to ourselves. Our life is like a mist that appears for a little while and then disappears.

.

Let us all, along with Mary, the sister of Lazarus, choose that one thing that is necessary, which will not be taken away from us.

If you want the blessings of The LORD to attend your way, then you must ask yourself: What have I done for JESUS CHRIST?

Paid your bills? ....Commendable, but millions of pagans and Buddhists and Moslems and Hindus pay their bills.... but they won't get into Heaven.

.

Didn't ever drink, smoke, or do drugs? ... lots of people haven't done these things. But that's not a ticket into Heaven either.

.

.

Fed, clothed, and raised your children to be decent, law-abiding, productive citizens? .....Now this is simply your un-abdicatable duty; you will be dreadfully accountable if you don't do this. Again, the above millions of peoples do this very same thing... yet they do not follow the Living Savior, Our LORD JESUS CHRIST,... so Heaven will be closed to them also.

Kept the 10 Commandments? (i.e., no stealing, no killing, no "cussin' using The LORD'S name, no adultery, doing ONLY Holy things on the sabbath, have not coveted after [lusted after] anything or person I've seen, etc.)... Aha, you say, I've kept all these things from my youth up because my parents made us live holy and righteous lives... but, that's not enough to get you into Heaven. If it was, the Bible could have stopped at Exodus.

Like JESUS Himself+ said, those commandments are right things to do and indeed, are simply the basic requirements of all.. Nothing beyond basic duty here... although you will reap better fruits if you do these right things than if you do not!
.
BUT, it still won't get you into Heaven.

.
Why?

.
Because you haven't been cleansed from your past sins...

and your present tendency

to hide your sinful nature from GOD.

.

However, HE+ sees you as you REALLY are.

HE+ loves you...

but an uncleansed sinner simply doesn't enter Heaven.
.

HE+ will not change the rules for anyone,

including me or you.

.

If you don't believe this now,

REALITY awaits you

when you open your eyes

in death.

.

So, what must I do to be saved from the punishment

certainly ordained for each person who dies in their sins?

JESUS says you MUST (no option here) ... yes, MUST be born again in order to see Heaven. You must be born from above, through water and by the HOLY SPIRIT.

.

And...

.

here is the scary part...

.

you can't control the HOLY SPIRIT...

.

HE+ does!
.

HE+ Who+ loves you MOST, knows you BEST.

.
You cannot hide anything in the secret place of your heart;
HE+ sees you in there.

.

So HE+ waits.

.
HE+ waits for you to come clean

and confess your sins...

all of them...

to HIM+.

.

If you confess and turn away from your sins

AND WANT TO LIVE ONLY FOR JESUS,

HE+ will know it!

[ HE+ will also know it if you

don't want to live only for HIM+ .]
.

HE+ will bring you that new birth from above [through water and the HOLY SPIRIT] and make you into a brand new creature...that new creature in CHRIST that The Word talks about. And you will be clean and have help to STAY clean until it is your time to leave this world for the Heavenly realm.

.

So, if you want the reality of blessings, then do it HIS+ WAY... repent, be cleansed, and come and follow JESUS... in spirit and in truth.

.

Then... and only then... you will be able to DO SOMETHING FOR JESUS... something that is acceptable unto a Holy LORD and not a pitiful humanistic endeavor.

Then --- and only then---

will The LORD JESUS CHRIST

send forth His+ blessings

for this year and all the years to come.

.

Believe me, you'll get nothing from participating in a superstitious chain letter ...except another sin to be accountable for on the day of judgment.


JESUS said,

"I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life;

no one

comes to the FATHER

except through ME+."
.

HE+ meant it.
.

This was written in response to a superstitious chain letter sent to me. It had a portion of the LORD'S PRAYER on it. It said to say it and then immediately send the chain letter to 20 people to receive [health, wealth, etc.] for an entire year... with no problems!

.

.

At the bottom, we were informed it was a Roman Catholic novena. Upon research, I discovered its content originated in 1952 out of Mother Teresa [see "novena Wikipedia"]. But, Mother Teresa refused to give the poor dying ones the simple GOSPEL message that JESUS saves repentant sinners.

I'd stick to the Word!

LENTEN MEDITATION 36 ~ ~ ~ Cut it Off

Lenten Meditation 36 ~ ~ ~Cut It Off
For the Year of Our LORD, 3.12.2008


For whosoever shall give you a cup of water to drink in my name,
because ye belong to Christ, verily I say unto you,
he shall not lose his reward.


And whosoever shall offend one of these little ones that believe in
me, it is better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck,
and he were cast into the sea.


And if thy hand offend thee,
cut it off:
it is better for thee to enter into life maimed,
than having two hands to go into hell,
into the fire that never shall be quenched:


Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched.

Words of The LORD JESUS to His+ Church, recorded in Mark 9: 41-44

Has anyone EVER heard a sermon preached on this passage? Growing up Methodist, I never did. Furthermore, in subsequent years, attending Presbyterian, Assembly of GOD, Episcopal, Evangelical, Anglican, Charismatic prayer groups, and even popping into a Roman Catholic service once in awhile… I never heard these 4 verses touched upon… even in Sunday School.

In 26 years of serious church attending before I was regenerated, I never heard these words of JESUS read nor addressed from the pulpit. Growing up, we were not excused from the sermons of the minister to go to children’s church. Rather, we were taught to sit quietly and listen.


And, more’s the pity, after I was regenerated, I never heard these words of JESUS read nor addressed from the pulpit for approximately 33 years.[1]

And if thy hand offend thee,

than having two hands to go into hell [Gehenna, Gk.]
into the fire that never shall be quenched:


Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched.

We know The LORD JESUS never spoke a frivolous word. We know HE+ spoke those things necessary for our salvation. We know and have the confidence that HE+ offered to rescue everyone from eternity in hell: HE+ wanted no-one… not even the worst of sinners… to be placed in hell. It was originally designated for fallen angels, not for man.


If our hands do things to make us stumble, sin, or fall away from The LORD, HE+ tells us to do the worst thing possible to that hand: CUT IT OFF. That is how serious sin is, in His+ eyes. The consequences are unthinkably dreadful. Eventually, the sinner will end up in the Lake of Burning Fire… Gehenna… as found in Revelation 20:14, the second death. That is where the devil, the beast, and the false prophet are thrown, Rev. 20:10.



How should we then live?



We had better live in a state of repentance. We had better take His+ words seriously. We had better monitor our thoughts, words, and activities through the eyes of Him+ with Whom+ we have to do.


Dear LORD,

I Thank THEE+ for giving me Thy HOLY SPIRIT; O LORD, take it not from me when I don’t listen! Have mercy upon me. Help me to receive Your blessed conviction for sin. Send it forth to me before worse happens. Help me by Thy Grace to take seriously Your words and Your work and forgive my light-heartedness about them. Help me to deal with my body in such a way that my flesh knows my spirit will not indulge its whims and whines. Help me to live out my salvation daily for the glory of GOD… and escape the fires of the second death.

O HOLY FATHER, I ask these things in the name of Thy Beloved SON JESUS CHRIST, in Whom+ THOU was well-pleased, and in the power of Thy Blessed HOLY SPIRIT. Amen.











[1] Now in my 60’s, I have heard a Bishop at All Saints Church in Rome, Ga. gallantly address these warning words of CHRIST JESUS… and he addressed them not only to his congregation but also over the airwaves in his radio broadcast.

LENTEN MEDITATION 18~ ~ ~ ~ ~ The Second Death

LENTEN MEDITATION 18
for the Year of Our LORD, 2.23.2008

The SECOND Death

And I saw the dead, small an great, stand before GOD:

and the books were opened: and another book was opened,

which is the book of life:

and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books,

according to their works.

And the sea gave up the dead which were in it;

and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them;

and they were judged every man according to their works.

And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire.

This is the second death. Rev. 20: 12,14

He that hath an ear, let him hear what the SPIRIT saith unto the churches; He that overcometh shall not be hurt of the second death. Rev. 2:11

But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone;

which is the second death. Rev. 21:8

The second death is a topic avoided by most preachers and brethren alike.

The second death brings to us the true, horrible, and frightening aspect of spending eternity in the Lake of Fire where the adversary satan will be placed. This likely will be, at the very least, that one will experience the amount of pain and suffering one has done to others during his life on earth... but possibly more, since The LORD takes those offenses as done unto HIMSELF.

Then, there is the accountability of who did one serve: The LORD .... satan.... oneself ?

JESUS HIMSELF spoke of this SECOND death in Mark 9: 42-48. Listen to His Words:

And whosoever shall offend one of these little ones that believe in me, it is better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and he were cast into the sea.

And if thy hand offend thee, cut it off; it is better for thee to enter into Life maimed, than having two hands to go into hell,

into the fire that never shall be quenched:

where THEIR WORM DOES NOT DIE AND THE FIRE IS NOT QUENCHED.

And if thy foot offend thee, cut it off: it is better for thee to enter halt into Life, than having two feet to be cast into hell,

into the fire that never shall be quenched:

where THEIR WORM DOES NOT DIE AND THE FIRE IS NOT QUENCHED.

And if thine eye offend thee, pluck it out: it is better for thee to enter into the kingdom of GOD with one eye, than having two eyes to be cast into hell fire:

where THEIR WORM DOES NOT DIE, AND THE FIRE IS NOT QUENCHED.

Life, in the above passage, refers to entering into Eternity with JESUS. Our LORD is telling us that rather than sin and miss Eternal Life with HIM+, it would be better for us to sever our needed body part through which sin has come. Why? It is because when we get to Heaven, we'll be made whole, once again, plus have eternal life in a NEW KIND of BODY, LIKE HIS+ GLORIOUS RESURRECTED BODY!

In other words, no matter the personal cost,

DON'T MISS ETERNITY WITH JESUS.

The opposite is a nightmare which never, ever ceases.

That second death is where all who are waiting in hell for the final judgment are thrown into the Lake of Burning Fire with hell itself and death ! We see that when the unredeemed die, they go to a place of waiting called hell or hades (Gk) or sheol (Heb). They are in torments there, as JESUS told us in Luke 16.

BUT THAT IS NOT THE SECOND DEATH

....WHICH AWAITS THEM LATER.

That awful, eternal, SECOND DEATH,

where the worm dieth not and the fire is not quenched.

This brings us back to our priorites, Christians...

and our accountability before the great Judgment Seat of CHRIST.

In the light of the SECOND death, how then should we live... before GOD, daily... before our fellow man... in our pursuits of this life... in the priorities of our day?

Are we truly concerned about the peoples and tribes who have never heard about The LORD, that they might be saved from the Lake of Burning Fire, the SECOND death?

Are we truly concerned about our lost neighbors that they might be saved from the SECOND death? Or rather, do we keep things on an easy, comfortable level? Do we even think to pray for them... other than when they get sick? The SECOND death is going to be harder on them than any sickness they have ever seen on this earth... and more long-lasting, too. Do we care enough even to set some regular time aside to pray?

Do we pray for opportunities to share the seriousness of eternal consequences with those who are hostile to us?

Let us pray:

Dear Holy, Heavenly FATHER,

I come to you ashamed of my light-hearted walk before THEE. I have not laid to heart the seriousness of Thy words nor of Thy commission. O LORD JESUS CHRIST, it is my heart's desire that all would know THEE+ ... Thy great love, Thy great cleansing power, and Thy great Life both here and beyond the grave.

Turn me away from self-centeredness, O LORD, and let Thy Anointing rest upon me. Let others sense the seriousness of eternal consequences when they see me or converse with me. And help me, O help me, to dislodge myself from comfort and rise up and do those things which will help to rescue friends and enemies alike from the SECOND death... which was not intended for men but for the fallen angels. I am ashamed of my lack of concern. Where would I be if others had not been concerned about my falling into that very Lake ?

I Thank THEE+, O Holy ONE+, for the salvation THOU+ has given to mankind... for whosoever will come to THEE+ . Help me to rescue the perishing and do my part, to show my love and thankfulness unto THEE+.

IN the name of the FATHER, His+ SON, JESUS CHRIST our LORD, and the HOLY SPIRIT. Amen.
