  HELL IS REAL.       

This is a true story.  

This incident was originally reported to the Aleppo Herald by Fr. Hermann Groschlin of the  Dominican Catholic Presbytery of Ayyash, the Brothers who  do this ministery. 

In a recent event that took place near Aleppo in Syria, a jihadist was killed in a battle with the Syrian army. He received a burst of automatic weapons fire and went down with five or six bullet holes through him.

  The isis jihadist was prepared to enter the islamic "jannah", the perverse "heaven" the islamic fighters are promised in islam. 

He died and was moving toward light, when he was intercepted by a group of very un-beautiful entities which told him to come with them. He was taken to a very uncomfortable place, to hell. 
. 

An Angelic being there told him that he had "failed as a human soul"  This jihadist was made to endure all that he had done to other human beings, over and over and over again during the time he was dead. 

He was even made to be beheaded over and over again ... 

...  enduring it through the eyes of the ones he had done that to, experiencing their terror and the feelings that his victims had at being beheaded. He was made to endure other things he had done as well.

     A group of Dominican Brothers  reported this.  They had picked up the jihadists body for burial, a part of what they do as part of their ministry .

Upon reading this report,  I remembered an Ancient pre-Nicene writing reportedly from the Apostle Paul and one from the Apostle Peter. Their writings are visions of what happens when humans die, both good and evil .  The visions followed both kinds of humans departing this life, with an Angelic escort there to ask and answer questions about what was happening.

 These visions describe vividly what happened to the jihadist!

 .

There is no way the jihadist could have known about this Ancient Christian writing; even most Christians are not aware of its existence since it is not in the canon of scripture (The Bible).

The two ancient writings are called '"The Vision of Paul" and "The Apocalypse of Peter", and they are found in the Ante-Nicene Fathers, Volume 8 and 9 . These writings/visions describe similar things to those the jihadist experienced while he was dead.  
.

In these ancient writings, the PUNISHMENTS for the un-righteous dead are made to occur  over and over again upon the one who died in his sins, as he committed his unrighteous deeds over and over again in his life upon earth.

 This incident points of the fact that these Ancient pre-Nicene visions are true and accurate.

As the Dominican Brothers were taking his and some other bodies away from the battlefield for burial, they heard a moaning. They stopped to see where it was coming from and found the jihadist had come to life although in serious condition. They hurried to the hospital where doctors worked on him, amazed that he was alive.

   This man then told the Dominican Brothers what had happened to him.

He was TERRIFIED,

afraid that he would die again

and have to return

to " THAT PLACE " !

He said that what he had experienced would HAUNT him the rest of his life. He asked them what he could do.  

They told him about The SON+ of GOD, 

JESUS CHRIST, 

and that HE+ is The LAMB+ of GOD 

Who+ takes away the sins of the world ...... 

that there is FORGIVENESS of sin in HIS+ Name

 and through HIS+ SHED BLOOD.

. 

      The jihadist repented of his sins. which were many, and  became a follower of CHRIST. He wants to try to warn other jihadists and muslims of what awaits those who live as he lived. He feels that he was lied to a very misled about this life and life after death.

At last report he has asked if he can live there with the Dominicans and learn as much about JESUS as he can, to warn others to repent.

   Our Precious LORD JESUS has commanded us to, " Do unto others in all things as you would have them do unto you." 

It is good --- when it comes time to die and leave this sad world --- to have lived our lives as Christians having practiced our LORD'S+ Words.  We enter into HIS+ Presence with joy and a clear conscience that we have not gone against HIM+ in any area of our lives.

As we can see here, what we choose to do to others will certainly be inflicted upon us, apart from repentance and  that backed up by the fruits of said repentance.

  A very sobering event. May The LORD+ anoint this man to warn many islamic jihadists and others about what he experienced so that they might repent before it is too late. 

 May the Grace of our LORD+ JESUS CHRIST,

        And the Love of GOD our FATHER,

         And the Communion of

 The Blessed HOLY SPIRIT.

For thou wilt not leave my soul in hell;
neither wilt thou suffer
thine Holy One to see corruption.
Psalm 16:10

From Scripture, we now see that Our LORD descended into hell [Hades Gk./Sheol Heb.] to preach the GOSPEL of His+ Salvation to the departed spirits.

For to this end also the GOSPEL WAS PREACHED TO THE DEAD ONES, that they might truly be judged according to men in the flesh, but might live according to GOD in the Spirit. (I Peter 4:6, Gk)

Our LORD preached to several groups in the stronghold or prison of the departed spirits, according to ancient Christian writings. (See yesterday’s blog). One group indicated in Scripture would include those righteous ones who died under the Patriarchal Covenant. Another group would have been those who died righteously under the Mosaic Covenant.

I Peter 3 tells us plainly that those who died during the time of Noah… who were formerly unrighteous / disobedient… were also presented the GOSPEL. We surmise that the departed souls and spirits of people in that unrighteous group would have NOT had the opportunity to enter the Patriarchal Covenant before they died.

We know, from Scriptures, that His+ preaching brought joy !


“Your father Abraham leaped for joy that he should see My+ day: and he saw and rejoiced,” The LORD said to the Pharisees and Jews. (Jay P. Green’s Interlinear Greek New Testament, recorded in John 8:56.).

What could have made
Abraham, (Moses, Elijah, etc.)
so glad?

What happens when the GOSPEL is preached… and preached with great signs, wonders, and power?

The CHURCH IS FORMED!

The LORD JESUS CHRIST was the first-born from the dead (Col. 1:15, Rev. 1:5) and become the firstfruits of them that slept (I Cor. 15:20) .

It MUST have made their hearts rejoice to see The ONE+ Who+ was in the process of destroying the power of death. Likely, they were glad to hear the Voice of The LORD … and that, victoriously. They were most likely glad to hear the GOSPEL of His+ salvation being offered to them. And, most probably, they were very glad that HE+ Who+ had the power over death called them “My+ brethren !” (Heb. 2:11-15, Psalm 22:22)

Now, let us look at some Scriptures through the eyes of the departed spirits of men held captive in the heart of the earth.


· Psalm 74:12
For GOD is my King of old, working salvation in the midst [ inward parts, Heb.] of the earth.

· Psalm 49:15
But GOD will redeem (set free) my soul from the power of the grave, for HE shall receive me.

· Psalm 71:20

THOU, which hast shewed me great and sore troubles, shalt quicken (make alive) me again, and shalt bring me up again from the depths of the earth.


Hosea 6:1-2

Come, and let us return unto the LORD: for HE hath torn, and HE will heal us; HE hath smitten, and HE will bind us up. After two days will HE revive us: in the third day HE will raise us up, and we shall live in HIS sight.

The familiar Messianic passage of Isaiah 61:1 says:

The Spirit of ADONAI JEHOVAH is upon ME; because JEHOVAH hath anointed ME to preach good tidings unto the meek; HE hath sent ME to bind up the broken-hearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound.

This Scripture refers to The LORD JESUS CHRIST because HE+ Himself told us it did, in Luke 4:18-21.

Now, let us read the Messianic passage of Isaiah 9:2-3 [and Luke 1:79] with our mind set upon The LORD JESUS' descent into hell (Hades, Sheol), preaching the GOSPEL of His+ Salvation unto the departed souls and spirits of mankind:

The people that walked in darkness have seen a great light; they who dwell in the land of the shadow of death*** (i.e.... the phantoms, the spirits of the dead), light has shone on them. (*** See note at the end of the blog).

When The LORD turns the captivity of Zion, the entire Psalm 126 speaks of great joy.

Now then, there must have been a VERY, VERY GOOD reason for The LORD to descend into the heart of the earth to preach the GOSPEL to the spirits imprisoned in Sheol. An old 1902 article reprinted by the Sovereign Grace Advent Society in England several years ago said there was: it was to bring Old Covenant saints into one body in CHRIST, as per Phil. 2:10 ; I Cor. 12:13; and Eph. 4:4-8.

We recall Our LORD'S words in John 10:15-16 :

+

As The FATHER knoweth ME+, even so know I The FATHER; and I lay down MY+ life for the sheep. And other sheep I have, which are not of this fold; them also I must bring and they shall hear MY+ Voice; and there shall be one fold, and ONE SHEPHERD+.

+

Could these familiar words of CHRIST JESUS the LORD apply also to His+ work in forming the church in the heart of the earth, as well as to His+ work through The HOLY SPIRIT in forming the church upon the earth?

+

And, here is another note-worthy thought: If Our LORD opened to the disciples' understanding the Scriptures, as they walked on the road to Emmaus, could HE+ not also open the understanding of the captive souls and spirits of men in hell (Hades / Sheol) to the Living Word of GOD ?

*** A note about The Shadow of Death:

This noteworthy phrase is usually understood in a poetic or metaphorical sense instead of being taken literally. However, there is GOOD EVIDENCE that the phrase could and should be understood more concretely. At the very least, the phrase should be considered to have a literal, concrete meaning which is EQUALLY as valid as the poetic.

For instance, Psalm 23 says: Yea, though I walk through the valley, gorge, plain of the phantom(s) or spirits of the dead, I will fear no evil for THOU are with me; Thy rod and Thy staff, they comfort me. [ Order of the GOOD SHEPHERD+ translation.]

+

We found a very interesting root word for the entire phrase "shadow of death." In Strong's Concordance /Hebrew Dictionary, the word roots have these references: 6757 from 6738 from 6751, which from 6754. These numbers are closely related words.

+

The end result is this: shadow really means a shade or phantom or shadowy appearance. This brought us to the conclusion that the valley of the shadow of death was IN TRUTH the valley or gorge or plain of the phantoms(s) / shades of the dead, that is, Sheol.

+

This conclusion would make Psalm 23 a concrete reference to the departed spirits in Sheol (Hades / hell) , instead of only being a symbolic description of a believer going through very difficult times here on earth. This understanding could also be applied to Isaiah 9:2.

in the heart of the earth.

What happened

during those 3 days and 3 nights
HE+ spent in the heart of the earth?


However, before we look at what happened, we must first understand what the situation was "in the heart of the earth."

In short, we must take a reasonable look at HELL.


For thou wilt not leave my soul in hell;
neither wilt thou suffer
thine Holy One to see corruption.
Psalm 16:10

To the common mind, hell is a very hot place to which very bad people descend when they die. The KJV translators used hell as an umbrella term to cover four --- (yes, 4!!)--- different words used in the Greek and Hebrew Scriptures.

The first two, briefly, we will define, but it is the last two that will hold our focus.

Hell: Tartarus. This is a Greek word used only in 2 Peter 2:4. It refers to the place where fallen angelic beings are put, reserved for eternal fire at the final judgement.

Hell: Gehenna. This is a Greek word. It is the lake of burning fire of Revelation 19 and 20. Gehenna (Valley of Hinnom) was an actual valley near Jerusalem, west and southwest of it. Some old maps have it marked. A perpetual fire burned there of all manner of trash and refuse, including “unclean” dead bodies of both man and animal. It was here that Jeremiah’s TOPHET was located. (See Jer. 7:31 and chapter 19). Tophet had an altar where apostate Israel burned their sons and daughters as human sacrifices, much to the abhorrence of the LORD.

The LORD used Gehenna 11 times for hell in the Gospels. James used it once. Gehenna, without ceasing, destroys both body and soul (Mt. 5:22,29,30) … and is where their worm dieth not and the fire is not quenched… ( Mark 9: 43-48), the LORD JESUS said. Into this lake of burning fire (Gehenna) are thrown Death and Hades at the end of the LORD’S 1,000-year-reign upon the earth (Rev. 20:14). Isaiah 66:24 also has a curious reference about this lake of burning fire, using the same words as found in Mark 9.

However, the focus of our discussion here concerns the other two terms translated as hell. In the Old Testament it is Sheol (Heb.) and in the New Testament the word is Hades (Gk). Both of these terms --- Hades and Sheol­­­--- refer to the same place, the abode of the unseen, the dead, the departed human soul & spirit. They both refer to the HEART OF THE EARTH.

Some scholars say it is a hollow place in the heart of the earth. This is because of the reference to Abraham’s Bosom found in Luke 16:22-26. [ NOTE THIS: In ancient societies, people gathered their loose outer garments as a sack, if necessary, to carry measures of meal, grain, etc., pressed close to their chests. See Luke 6:38. Hence bosom was synonymous with a hollowed-out place, in the ancient world.]


Before Our LORD’S death and resurrection, the hell actually known to the ancients as Hades/Sheol was divided into 2 parts, according to Luke 16. A great chasm (Gk) was fixed between the two parts. (Luke 16:22-26 KJV says “gulf”). Some scholars say the two parts were divided into an uppper and a lower region, based on Scriptures like Deuteronomy 32:22, Psalm 63:9, and Proverbs 7:27. The righteous dead went into the part of Hades/Sheol known as Abraham’s Bosom or Paradise (Luke 23:43). They were comforted there, in a pleasant place as was Lazarus.


The SECOND part of hell/Hades/ Sheol was for the UNrighteous dead. Again, Luke 16:22-26 indicates that this part of Hades had absolutely no comfort but rather torments of flame, thirst, and anguishing thoughts. Flames here are such that they afflict only the soul and spirit of man, NOT his physical body.Ezekiel 32:24 calls Hades/ Sheol “the nether parts of the earth.” In Proverbs 9:18, it is called “the depths of Sheol,” in reference to the unrighteous dead. (Keep in mind this is different from Tartarus and Gehenna. In Gehenna, the lake of burning fire, is the flame that afflicts without ceasing both body and soul. )

THE PITS

In this SECOND division of Hades/hell was located a shaft, like a well or mine shaft so to speak. The Greek word used is phrear which means shaft or dungeon; KJV translates that word as pit. This shaft (KJV pit) leads into the abyss… a place with no bottom. This is the same abyss (the deep) that the demons begged The LORD not to send them into before their time. (See Luke 8:31, Mt. 8:29.)

The Hebrew Old Testament word pit, however, is different. In Hebrew, pit seems to be synonymous in usage to grave, Sheol, or corruption. Thus, it is used in Psalms 28:1, 30:3, the Messianic Psalm 40:2, Psalm 88:4, Isaiah 14:15, and that wonderful chapter 9 of Zechariah which says:

“…Behold, you King comes to you.
HE is righteous and victorious;
lowly and riding on a donkey…
His dominion shall be from sea to sea,
and from The River
to the ends of the earth…
by the Blood of Your Covenant
I have freed Your prisoners
from the pit wherein is no water.”
(from verses 9,10, and 11, Green’s Hebrew Interlinear)



So…which part of hell did the living soul and spirit

of Our LORD JESUS CHRIST descend into,

leaving His+ tired, though uncorrupted,

sinless body in the tomb?

Which part was HE+ in for 3 days and 3 nights… and why?

What was HE+ doing down there?
